Response to Crisis in Egypt

I believe that the U.S. should remain neutral by not supporting either side but we should help President Hosni Mubarak make the change in power as peaceful as possible. In the article (1) above, it suggests that the protestors against the Egyptian President have been very non-violent up until people who are pro-Mubarak and the Egyptian military started to interfere. The violence sparked when the two sides began to clash. With the Egyptian military not following the commands of President Mubarak, I think that it would be in the best interests of the U.S. to just help with the passing on of power. This will be the best option if the United States wants to remain close allies with the Egyptian government as well as continuing to maintain peace in the Mid-East. By also doing this, we are preventing the "domino theory" with other neighboring Mid-East countries from occurring.
